Cookie Policy

This policy explains how Nurturepedia uses cookies and similar storage technologies. We describe what gets saved on your device, why we use it, and how you stay in control.

1. What are cookies and local storage?

Cookies are tiny text files placed on your computer, tablet, or phone when you browse a website. They help websites remember your actions, device settings, and preferences over time.

We also use browser storage (such as localStorage) to keep your favorite baby names saved on your device so you don't lose your list when you close the tab.

2. Categories of cookies we use

Even though Nurturepedia does not require an account to browse names or use tools, our platform uses 3 distinct types of cookies:

Essential and functional cookies

These cookies keep basic site features working. They remember your active calculator tabs, handle mobile menu state, and ensure quick page transitions. Without them, core parts of the site cannot run smoothly.

Examples: session preferences, UI state. Typical duration: session to 1 year.
Analytics and performance measurement

We use Google Analytics (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to see which parenting guides, pregnancy tools, and name origin pages parents find most helpful. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

Key cookies: _ga, _ga_* (Google Analytics, 2-year retention); _clck, _clsk (Microsoft Clarity, 1 day to 1 year).
Advertising and partner cookies

We partner with Google AdSense to show relevant ads. Google and its ad partners place cookies to prevent ad fraud, limit how many times you see the same ad, and measure ad viewability.

Key cookies: __gads, __gpi, IDE (DoubleClick). Typical duration: 90 days to 13 months.

3. Journey by Mediavine and programmatic advertising

Nurturepedia partners with Journey by Mediavine and its certified programmatic advertising exchanges (including Google Ad Manager) to display automated advertisements. These ad partners use cookies and device identifiers to serve relevant ads based on prior visits to this and other websites across the internet.

We do not pass personal pregnancy details, calculator inputs, or private favorites to advertisers. Ad networks see only standard device information and IP-derived network location.

4. How to manage and disable cookies

You can manage or delete cookies whenever you like. Most browsers let you block third-party cookies, clear existing cookies, or browse in private mode.
